Raising Funds
Since we dreamed this up in August 2008 the Abbey has been entirely volunteer powered.
Our budget for 2009 is $52,000. $32,000 will go to Troy’s part-time salary, the remaining $20,000 goes to administrative start up costs, taxes, abolitionist work, and programs for the neighborhood. If you want to know more details of the budget feel free to email Troy (troybronsink at mac dot com).
As missionary support and in the spirit of collegiality, the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta is freely offering their non-profit status and the oversight of their accounting office to serve as fiscal agent while Neighbors Abbey is in its infancy. A Steering Committee of other pastors and elders from the Atlanta area serve, in consultation with participants of Neighbors Abbey, as the board of directors over this account at this time.
Of the $52,000 budget for next year, we have raised $39,000 in grants, gifts, and pledges. We have been given a $25,000 matching fund mission challenge grant from the General Assembly of the PC(USA). So, every dollar you give will be doubled by this matching grant. We also have a $5,000 grant from the Synod of the South Atlantic, $3,000 from local churches, and $6,000 in outside pledges and gifts including offerings from Abbey participants.
We still need $13,000.
I know that it is a large thing to ask for those who do not yet benefit from or know the Abbey well to partner financially. But it is Troy’s expectation, as well as the hopes and prayers of the steering committee and Abbey participants, that God’s Spirit will bring partners who also believe in seeking the welfare of our cities to come along side us in these early years. If you feel connected to this dream and want to entrust us with some of your money to invest in this entrepreneurial kingdom act of faith you can do so securely by paypal (who charge a 3% fee) or by sending a check. If you want to offer a pledge for a monthly gift, you can also arrange that through paypal or download this PDF to mail with your tax deductible gift
Checks should be made out to Presbytery of Greater Atlanta, with “Neighbors Abbey” in the memo line. They should be sent to:
